Sections Begin........

Above Lizzy puts another K in the book as she does time after time. Eleven of Merced's at bats meet the same fate. 11 K's nice job Lizzy!

Sections began Saturday morning at Sacramento with the first game against Merced.  The weather was great as it was much cooler than last year.  Merced put two quick runs on the board top of the first.  It would end up being the only two runs they score though as the Vikes (as they were being announed in Sac) would come back and put six of their own on the board to finish on top 6-2.  Hits were scattered through the line up for Johansen but Sydney was the "driver" in this game going 3-3 and then scoring 2 of the six runs as the top of the line up brought her across the plate.  The "WOW" play for me in this game was when in the top of the 6th Merced was feeling very optimistic with runners on third & first one out.  Chelsea aka "Pik-Ster" comes up firing to third for the pick to Theresa.  Tee (not waiting for the Kodak moment) immediately throws to Gabby at second to get the third out for the attempted steal. Merced's side is totally silenced while Johansen fans are sitting back & thinking....this is "How We Do It". Imagine runners on 1st & 3rd one out and then....BLINK...out of inning no runs score? My WOW play of the game.
Then on to game #2 against the Vacaville Bulldogs. Hats off to the Bulldogs as they become the team to end the Vikings 11 game winning streak.  Final score  Vacaville 3 - Johansen 0.  Next game Monday 5pm.........Go Get Em Vikes!
